Privacy Policy for Unvanish

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Unvanish ("the app") keeps a personal log of the notifications that arrive on your own device, so you can read a message again after the app that sent it has removed it. This policy explains exactly what the app touches and where it goes.

The short version: everything stays on your phone. Unvanish does not have permission to use the internet at all, so it is technically incapable of sending your data anywhere. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no ads.

What the app accesses

With your explicit permission, granted in Android's own Settings screen under "Notification access", Unvanish reads notifications posted on your device. From each notification it keeps:

Android will not deliver a single notification to Unvanish until you turn this permission on yourself, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. The app does not read your accounts, contacts, call logs, SMS database, files, location, or camera, and it asks for no permission that would let it do so.

Where the data is stored

Captured notifications are written to storage that is private to the app on your own device, and nowhere else. The app keeps the most recent 500 messages; older entries are dropped automatically as new ones arrive.

This data is deliberately excluded from Google cloud backup. It is carried over only during a direct phone-to-phone transfer, when you move to a new device yourself.

What is not collected

Why the app can see your installed apps

A notification arrives identified only by a package name such as com.example.messenger. So that the list can show you a readable app name and icon instead, the app queries installed packages. This is used solely to label the notifications you already received. The list of your installed apps is never recorded, compiled, or transmitted.

Deleting your data

Because nothing is stored on a server, there is no separate deletion request to make and no copy of your data held anywhere for us to remove.

Children

Unvanish is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
