Privacy Policy for AAMusic
Last updated: 9 October 2026
The short version
AAMusic plays music that is already on your phone. Your music, your playlists and what you listen to stay on your phone; the app does not upload them, and the developer never sees them.
AAMusic is free and shows ads. The ads come from Google AdMob, and to show them, Google's ad software inside the app receives some information about your device — described below. It does not receive your music or your listening history.
What the app reads
With your permission, AAMusic reads the audio files on your device and the information stored inside them — titles, artists, album names, track lengths and album artwork — so it can show you a music library and play from it. It reads them only to display and play them. It does not copy them, move them, upload them or change them.
If you open an audio file from another app, such as a file manager or a messaging app, AAMusic plays that one file. Nothing about it is recorded or sent anywhere.
What the app stores, and where
On your own device, in storage that belongs to this app, AAMusic keeps:
- your playlists and favourites
- which song was playing and where you were in it, so it can pick up where you left off
- your equalizer and bass boost settings
- your own preferences — sort order, which folders you have hidden, whether song names are cleaned up
There is no account to sign in to and no server of the developer's behind this app. None of the above leaves your device, except through your phone's own backup (see “Backups”).
Advertising
AAMusic shows ads inside the app: in its lists — Songs, Albums, Artists and Folders — each clearly marked “Ad”, and as a banner near the top of the full-screen player, above the album art and kept apart from the buttons. Some ads contain video; videos start without sound, so they do not interrupt your music. Ads are never shown on a car screen through Android Auto, in the playback notification, in the home screen widget or on the lock screen.
The ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google. To request, show and measure ads, Google's ad software built into the app collects and sends to Google:
| Information | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Device identifiers — your device's advertising ID and app set ID | To show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure them, and (only if you allow it) personalise them |
| IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location (city or region, not precise location) | To choose ads suited to your region and to prevent fraud |
| Ad interactions — which ads were shown, tapped, or had their video watched | To measure ads, pay the developer, and prevent fraud |
| Device and app details — device model, Android version, language, screen size, app version | To show ads that work on your device |
| Diagnostics — information about errors and performance of the ad software | To keep the ad software working |
This information goes to Google, not to the developer. Google handles it under Google's Privacy Policy; how Google uses information from apps that show its ads is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. The developer receives only overall reports from AdMob — such as how many ads were shown and what they earned — which do not identify you.
Ads need an internet connection. If your phone is offline, no ads are shown and nothing is sent; the music player works fully without a connection.
Your choices about ads
- Consent (European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland). Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from the app's ⋮ menu → Ad privacy options.
- Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your device's advertising ID, which stops ads being personalised with it, in your phone's settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on the phone).
- Ad settings. The “AdChoices” mark on each ad leads to information about that ad and lets you report it.
Backups
If your phone's system backup is switched on, Android may include this app's playlists and favourites in the backup it makes to your Google account. That is a setting of your device and your Google account, not of this app, and the backup is covered by Google's Privacy Policy. Your saved playback position and the app's first-run state are deliberately left out of that backup, because they are only meaningful on the device they came from.
Analytics and tracking
Apart from the ad software described above, the app contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no other third-party tracking. The only third-party code in it is Google's ad software and Google's consent form.
Permissions, and why they are asked for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Music and audioREAD_MEDIA_AUDIO, and on Android 12 and older
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE |
To find and play the audio files on your device. This is the app's entire purpose; without it there is nothing to show. |
NotificationsPOST_NOTIFICATIONS |
To show the playback notification with its play, pause and skip buttons. |
Foreground service, media playbackFOREGROUND_SERVICE,
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK |
So music keeps playing when you leave the app or switch off the screen. |
Prevent sleepingWAKE_LOCK |
So playback is not interrupted while the screen is off. |
Modify audio settingsMODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS |
To run the equalizer and bass boost. |
Modify system settingsWRITE_SETTINGS |
Only when you choose “Set as ringtone”: to make a song your ringtone, notification or alarm sound. Android asks you to turn this on yourself in Settings; the app changes nothing else. |
Internet and network stateINTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Used only by the ad software, to load ads and to know whether a connection is available. The music player itself does not use the internet. |
Advertising IDAD_ID, and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID,
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS |
Lets the ad software read the advertising ID and use Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features, as described under “Advertising”. You control these in your phone's settings. |
There is no precise location, no contacts, no camera and no microphone.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and its ads are not intended for them. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
